For a long time now it’s been difficult to obtain personal car insurance that would cover a Rideshare, Uber or Lyft Driver. That is changing as more and more companies are slowly adapting to the idea of covering the gap between rideshare coverage and personal coverage.
What does the gap mean? While driving for Lyft or Uber, you are covered by that company’s insurance policy. When you are off the clock, you are covered by your personal insurance policy. But for the time that you are looking for a customer to pick up, you are not covered by either insurance. Personal Insurance companies are finding out that their insureds are working for Uber or Lyft and cancelling their insurance, leaving you with no personal insurance coverage.
Now Florida Uber and Lyft Drivers have an option.
There are new insurance policies being created that can cover the gap as well as the personal use of the vehicle.
